Fence Dry! Rules - Fencer Ranking System
RANKING SYSTEM
(a 200) The fencer ranking system provides a tool to determine the current relative strength of fencers, adjusted immediately after each registered competition. Each associate member starts with 700 points. Each bout against other fencers results in a change of that number, either adding points for victories or deducting points for defeats. The guiding principle is that victories by stronger fencers over weaker ones result in a smaller gain in points and that victories over stronger fencers by weaker fencers result in a greater gain in points. Similarly defeats of stronger fencers by weaker ones result in greater deductions, and defeats of weaker fencers by stronger ones result in smaller deductions. Double defeats in one touch epee count as defeats against both fencers.
