Fence Dry! Becoming an Associate
Fence Dry! membership is annual membership for the fencing year. The fencing year runs from 1 August to 31 July of the following calendar year. Fence Dry! individual associates receive the following benefits of membership:
Ranking based on the results of bouts fenced in Fence Dry! registered competitions.
Classification based on cumulative fencing experience reflected in bouts won in Fence Dry! registered competitions.
Annual point competition with all other associates of Fence Dry!
Training as dry fencing judges, referees, and bout committee members.
Fence Dry's monthly newsletter with information of interest to dry fencers.
Affiliated clubs receive the following benefits of membership:
Ability to register competitions with Fence Dry!
Rules to govern the specific functions in dry bouts that are no longer covered in the United States Fencing Association and Federation Internationale d'Escrime rules.
Rules and instructions for conducting club tournaments using a variety of formats that increase variety and interest and that have specific training value.
Training materials to assist in the development of judges, referees, and bout committee members to run dry competitons.
Fencing promotional brochures and materials.
Fence Dry! does not provide the following services:
Sanctioning of competitions
Insurance
Management or hosting of competitions or leagues
Training of fencers and certification of coaches
Fence Dry! individual associates and affiliated clubs are responsible for fencing safely and conducting safe matches and tournaments. Fencing is a very safe sport, but any sport has some potential for injury, and the longstanding tradition of fencing is that fencers fence at their own risk. All fencers have an obligation to abide by the published rules of fencing and to conduct themselves safely at any competition.
Membership Applications:
Individual Application - this is a paper copy that clubs can print for distribution to their members.
Online Individual Application - this is an online version of the associate application, with provisions for payment of annual fees by PayPal.
Online Club Application - clubs use this form to apply for association with Fence Dry!, with provisions for payment of annual fees by PayPal.
